Working Together to Explore Clean Energy Opportunities

Building understanding, sharing knowledge and exploring options for the future.

About Nucleon Energy

Nucleon Energy is a private, Alberta-based company developing the capacity to license, build and operate small modular reactors (SMRs) in Canada and the United States.

Our focus is on responsible, community-based energy development that supports both economic growth and decarbonization.

Right now, our work is about learning, engagement and preparation – not construction. Across several regions in Canada and the United States, we are still in the early stages of exploring how and where SMRs could contribute to the long-term energy mix.

What This Means for Communities

Nucleon is committed to working in partnership with communities to build knowledge, exchange information and explore potential opportunities for the future.

Our current community activities include:

Providing general education

  • Sharing information on nuclear energy and SMRs—what they are, how they work, and how Canada regulates them for safety.

Identifying potential sites

  • Studying sites that could one day support an SMR, based on environmental, technical, and infrastructure considerations.

Listening to community perspectives

  • Understanding local priorities, questions and values.

Exploring long-term partnerships

  • Nuclear facilities operate for many decades, genuine collaboration matters from the start.
Where We Are Today

This is the beginning of the process. No sites have been selected and no applications have been submitted.

The current work will help Nucleon, communities, and regulators understand whether a region could be suitable for a project in the future.

If, after study, a potential site appears viable, the next steps would include regulatory reviews, public consultation and environmental assessments before any decision to proceed.

Working Together Going Forward

Nucleon believes strong projects begin with strong relationships.

Become a Partner

We’re committed to:

  • Transparent communication about our work and findings.
  • Collaborating with municipal, state, provincial, and Indigenous governments throughout the siting and planning stages.
  • Creating long-term economic and educational benefits if a project moves forward.
